Location

Next door of the apartment you have a fresh food street market on Piazza San Cosimato. A supermarket is also around the corner and Trastevere offers many bars and restaurants. The area of Trastevere – the name meaning literally ‘beyond Tiber’ – is known as one of the most authentic parts of the Eternal City. This is where you will find plenty of the less-visited remains of the past, but also a number of top-notch guidebook attractions. To start with, you should definitely head to the Gianicolo Hill, featuring not only a blooming Botanic Garden but also plenty of amazing works of sacral architecture, including the church of San Pietro di Montorio; moreover, this is a place where you can enjoy a splendid view of the surroundings. And speaking of the surroundings, if you head north just a bit, you will get to the legendary City of Vatican within less than an hour. The site does not need an introduction, but just as a reminder, note that this is where you will be able to explore some of the most fabulous works of Christian art. And if you wish to take a break somewhere closer to nature, the nearby Villa Dora Pamphili is bound to enchant you with its huge landscaped public park.
