Trastevere is a historical and typically Roman neighborhood situated in the heart of Rome on the west bank of the Tiber river. We recommend a drink in the Piazza of Santa Maria in Trastevere, an Italian lunch at the café “Checco er carettiere“, and an aperitif at the popular “Freni e frizioni“. At sunset, you can climb the Gianicolo hill to the Piazzale Garibaldi. A little longer of a walk will take you to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza Venezia, and the Piazza del Popolo. In open air museum Rome, everything is within your reach, and the walk between attractions is often just as pretty and impressive as the monument itself.
