Parking your car in Rome

Moving by car in Rome may be sometimes necessary, given the vastness of its urban area (Rome has about 3 million inhabitants), but not always convenient. The city has a strong (quite bad) reputation for its traffic and it is not always easy to find a parking space, especially in the areas of the city center. Of course, if you want to try and find a free parking space, it is necessary to have extreme patience and evaluating the idea of booking a spot for your car in advance, by phone or online, is always highly recommended.

If you want to leave your car in the central areas, you can take advantage of the parking spaces managed by the national company Saba. Extremely spacious parking zones located in Via Veneto, Villa Borghese and Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Steps), but also in other districts on both sides of the Tiber’s river. Saba garages offer car wash systems, free tourist guides and several discount coupons for restaurants and cafes of the center.

The spacious Garage Esquilino is located in the homonymous district, in the area of Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II. It is a private parking area which offers daily and weekly subscriptions at reasonable prices.

Internet offers two systems which are extremely comfortable for parking in the Capital: Parking Rome is a website from which you can choose and book your parking spot. The network includes many areas, such as those of the Vatican, Prati, San Giovanni and EUR (outer district). My Parking covers the entire urban area. Just type in the street or area of interest, find the best place to park your vehicle and make an online reservation.

We would like to remind you that many areas of the historical center of Rome are restricted to traffic (called ZTL areas in Italian). This means that at certain hours and on certain days these areas are exclusively pedestrian, or only accessible to bus and taxis.
